Our spine has a special place in the skeletal structure of our body. The discs located between the vertebrae forming this chain are shock absorbing pillows made of durable fibers. Each disc consists of a solid ring called the annulus fibrosus and a jelly-like substance called mucleus pulposus, which is surrounded by the annulus.
Incorrect postures and sittings, obesity, a sedentary lifestyle, starting sports without warming up, stress is harmful for our back. Heavy lifting or wrong movements in our daily life cause the special fibrous layer outside the disc between the vertebrae to rupture. As a result, the jelly-like soft substance inside the disc shoots out between the vertebrae. This liquid, which overflows from the fibers, both loses its liquid feature and hardens, and starts to put pressure on the surrounding veins and nerves. If these changes occur in the lumbar vertebrae, they are most common in the discs between L4 L5 and L5 S1. This is called a herniated disc. If the same changes occurred between the neck vertebrae, we call it neck hernia.
Acupuncture is a successful treatment method that treats structural deformity in acute or chronic lumbar or neck hernia, if no indication for surgery is set, that is, no surgery is required.
EFFECT MECHANISM OF ACUPUNCTURE IN WAIST AND NECK HERNIA;
1. PAIN RELIEF EFFECT
Pain relieving effect: our internal morphine, endorphin secretion increases, creating a strong pain relief effect.
2. ADELE RELAXING EFFECT
Gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) found in our body is a very strong muscle relaxant. Acupuncture stimulates the secretion of this substance.
3. ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND EDGE-SOLVING EFFECT
Edema and inflammation in the hernia area are eliminated by acupuncture and the pressure on the vessels and nerves in that area is also removed. is provided.
4. PSYCHOLOGICAL AND SEDATIVE EFFECT
With acupuncture treatment, serotonin and endorphin levels are increased and the person is provided with peace and sedation.
In our center, acupuncture, electro acupuncture and laser therapy are applied together in the treatment of lumbar and neck hernia. The treatment is completed with a total of 10-20 sessions, 2-3 times a week.
