Be careful: May be necrotizing fasciitis
Summary
Necrotizing fasciitis; It is a life-threatening invasive soft tissue infection that primarily involves the fascia superficialis, extends rapidly through the subcutaneous tissues, and can relatively spread to the skin and underlying muscles, and is one of the important medical-surgical emergencies. Among the clinical findings; fever, systemic toxicity findings and pain disproportionate to clinical findings. In the early period of the disease, cutaneous findings are minimal; This makes diagnosis difficult. Delayed diagnosis and/or treatment is associated with poor response, sepsis and/or multiple organ failure. Necrotizing fasciitis is seen at increasing rates in diabetic patients worldwide. In this article, a diabetic patient with necrotizing fasciitis who applied to the emergency department is described.
