What is Botox?
Botox is a proteinaceous drug secreted by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.

How does it affect?
When injected into the muscle, it temporarily weakens or stops the movement of the muscle. Depending on the function of the facial mimic muscles or the excessive use of these muscles, wrinkles occur in the skin structure just above it over time. By affecting the movement of these superficial muscles, the appearance of wrinkles and lines on the skin attached to it can be reduced.

When does the effect start and how long does it last?
After the Botox procedure, the effect starts within 3-7 days due to the determinant of the person’s muscle structure, and becomes more pronounced on the 10th day. Efficiency can last for 3 or 6 months. Again, this is determined by the muscle structure, this period is shortened in strong and large muscles or in people with more mimic movements. Regular application of the procedure at certain intervals can both decrease the amount of Botox applied over time and prolong this period.

What is the treatment period?
Although the procedure is not very painful, it takes 5-10 minutes depending on the application areas after the use of topical anesthetic creams 15 minutes before for people with low pain threshold. After the areas to be applied are determined, the determined amount of drug is injected into the muscle using special fine-tipped needles while the person is sitting in an upright position.

What should be considered after treatment?
After the application, the person is asked to keep his head in an upright position for 2-4 hours, to work the muscles in the application area, not to massage these areas, and to avoid heavy exercises.

Are There Any Side Effects?
Although there is no known side effect, there may be slight bruising, swelling or redness at the injection site depending on the application technique. It is appropriate to apply Botox by a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon who has knowledge of the anatomical structure of the face and has knowledge or experience about the variations that may exist in the muscle structure. In addition, rarely drooping or asymmetry may occur in the eyebrow or eyelid, which will improve over time or can be eliminated with re-correction applications.

Who Cannot Have Botox?
Pregnant women, breastfeeding women, those with any muscle or neurological disease, and those who have a skin disease in the area to be treated are the people who should not be treated with Botox.

In Which Regions Is It Applied?
The area we call the upper 1/3 part of the face in general is the areas where Botox gives excellent results. Horizontal lines on the forehead, crow’s feet around the eyes, lines between the eyebrows and the edge of the nose are the main application areas. In addition, eyebrow lifting, nose tip lifting, lines on the lips (smoker’s lines), wrinkles on the neck are other application areas.

Excessive Sweating Treatment with Botox

Botox is an effective and safe method in the treatment of hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Especially the armpit is the most preferred area. After the application of local anesthetic creams, multiple injections are made into the superficial dermis where the sweat glands are located, with a very comfortable and painless method. The effectiveness of the procedure lasts 6-9 months, it is often applied close to the summer months. If it is to be done for the hand and foot, nerve blockage can be performed for pain beforehand.
