AGE AND FREQUENT DISEASES OF THE SKIN
Getting old is inevitable. Old age is defined as over 65 years of age.
According to the World Health Organization, 45-59 years old is middle age, 60-74 years old is old, 75-89 years old is advanced age, 90 and over is old age.
The skin of elderly people is wrinkled, loose and easily damaged due to the loss of some substances in the skin.
Chronic diseases, chronic stress, nutritional irregularity, low water consumption, chronic sun exposure and genetic factors are the factors that predispose to this situation. Young people protecting themselves from the sun, eating healthy and drinking plenty of water can delay this process.
Common skin problems faced by older people are:
skin dryness
Itching
Rose disease (rosacea)
Demodicosis
sunspots
shingles
Actinic-seborrheic keratosis (senile moles)
Benign skin cancers
malignant skin cancers
Scalp eczema
Fungal infection – infections such as scabies
These diseases may occur for the first time in advanced age, or the existing disease may exacerbate. The disease that a person will experience depends on genetic factors. Although the treatment of elderly people is similar to the treatment of young people, the drugs and additional diseases used by the person are also effective in the treatment decision. Both topical and surgical treatments can be used for age spots. Burning with ice, called cryotherapy, is also a frequently used treatment. If you are elderly or have an elderly relative, you should support them in applying to a doctor if there are different spots and redness on the skin.
