Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) is caused by a microbial agent named Nairovirus, which is carried by ticks. It got this name because it first appeared in the Crimea. It is transmitted to humans, especially by ticks of the genus Hyalomma. It progresses with fever, bleeding in the skin and other areas. Despite advances in treatment in recent years, mortality rates in these infections are still high.
