With a flexible fiberoptic endoscope, the tip of which can be bent in all directions, the anatomy of the lumbar region is viewed in detail and evaluated with a video-camera system. Laser is applied to the hernias to reduce them, adhesions are mechanically cleaned, nerve compressions are corrected, and drug injections are made. It is ensured that the tissues fully regain their physiological health.
It is applied in herniated discs and nerve compressions that are not large enough to require surgery but cause persistent back and leg pain. Epiduroscopy is one of the most recently developed methods for these patients, who mostly do not benefit from physical therapy applications and drug treatments. Epiduroscopy can be successfully applied in patients with widespread hernias in the lumbar region, not one or two, but more. In addition, patients who have previously had surgery on the lumbar region with epiduroscopy, but whose complaints have not resolved or have not decreased sufficiently, also benefit greatly. Adhesions in these patients are opened with epiduroscopy and the negative effects of the surgery are eliminated. It is a short-term method and takes about 30 minutes. Since only the flexible fiberoptic endoscope is used, the risk of nerve and vascular injury is almost non-existent. 4 hours after the intervention, the patient can walk and return to his daily life.
