Addiction is a very repulsive concept that also evokes negative thoughts. But it is such a common and underestimated word. Especially individual psychologies, social factors, this addiction are the determinants of the phenomenon.

The pleasing developments are that many nations around the world have decided to fight against this addiction. Mass education in this direction has gained momentum, and the spread of restrictive and prohibitive laws.

As a physician, it is impossible not to be positively affected by this struggle. In this sense, individual achievements should be encouraged and should not be ignored. We can make serious contributions to this struggle with the acupuncture method.

Basically, together with smoking, we take thousands of cancer-causing substances through the respiratory tract and distribute them to all target organs through the blood to destroy them slowly but surely. Most of these substances are addictive chemicals, especially nicotine.

The effectiveness of acupuncture reveals endorphins and serotonin, instead of these addictive substances, and begins to fight against smoking addiction.

The effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of smoking cessation is not something that our society is unfamiliar with. Many people have been freed from smoking addiction with the acupuncture method.

There are two important cases in smoking cessation treatment. First; It is the addicted person’s desire to get rid of this addiction and a declaration of will. There is no method in the world so that the person can quit smoking despite his or her wishes. First of all, the most important issue is that the person wants it very much, no matter what form of treatment it is. It’s not a good start.

The second phenomenon is when the person says, “Yes, I want to get rid of this addiction, but I can’t succeed on my own, I need a support.” and the result is achieved with the support of acupuncture treatment.

Two main activities are provided in acupuncture treatment. First, the individual tries to eliminate and reduce the desire to smoke as much as possible. In other words, withdrawal syndrome emerges. These symptoms occur in different variations and intensities from person to person. For example; headaches, dizziness, decreased concentration, visual disturbances, hand and foot tremors, insomnia, irritability, anger outbursts, tingling, numbness. These withdrawal symptoms are suppressed by acupuncture. A mild transition is provided.

When these two serious activities and the will of the person come together, it becomes easier to say goodbye to cigarette addiction.

At the end of this treatment and smoking-free period, the person has gained the ability to tolerate not smoking. He can keep this attitude and free himself from addiction and bondage.

Even after long intervals, the desire to smoke can be revived for any reason. In such attacks, it is recommended to suppress the desire with one or two sessions of acupuncture support.

Finally, acupuncture is an indisputable advantage in the treatment of addiction, without any harm or side effects to the person.
