While we are born and grow up – constantly growing – we decorate our houses with things and ourselves with clothes. We find ourselves spinning in a wheel that we take great care of our outer world. What about our soul, our emotions, our thoughts… Shall we talk to ourselves a little bit about these?
Our thoughts and feelings will give us many clues about ourselves. Maybe there are those among you who hide your soul with loss and look for a way out in that circle. Since our childhood, we have been knitting some thoughts like we are knitting; our perspective on life has gradually formed. Understanding these thoughts, some realistic and some unreal, is the first step in your journey to yourself. Feelings and thoughts are like views from the bus. They change frequently. And there are times when we enter the tunnel. Everything is darker. There is a fact that we should remember often. Emotions are guests and that tunnel will of course end. One of the most challenging aspects of individuals’ feelings and thoughts is the state of control. We focus so much on the parts we can’t control that sometimes, every behavior, every person, every thought, every emotion that you can’t control turns into a ball of yarn. Think of it as if we are looking through a magnifying glass at everything we cannot control. So that thought is much bigger than it is, and now it is unreal. We can start our journey towards ourselves by realizing that we are looking through a magnifying glass, and in the second step, I invite each of you to stop fighting these thoughts for a while and watch them just as if you were watching a videotape. If you have a side that watches thoughts, then you are neither your emotion nor your thought-thought. You are separate from your feelings and thoughts and much more than the sum of them. Awakening to yourself is like a person who goes to the eye doctor and starts to use glasses sees the whole world more clearly. Who knows, feelings will come out of feelings, thoughts will come out of thought, like a doll?
One of the most common thoughts is that ‘you should have an orderly life’. Let’s close with verses that will be the inner voice of many of you in this situation. This multitude but also our individual conversation:
“Who has ever been able to put life in order? Is life an orderly thing? What is it to organize life in a time warp where everything is possible and the thing called continuity is in need? Who makes up these concepts? Who releases it on society?”
