There are two types of stress. Motivating stress or unhealthy bad stress. The stress we feel before giving a speech in a meeting is motivating, it keeps us focused on the subject. Such stresses are temporary and short-lived. This stress motivates us to achieve higher standards. It is not unhealthy.
Bad stress lasts for a long time and there is no event to end it. The feeling of pressure increases over time. You always feel under pressure when you cannot relax and organize your work due to too much workload. In this case, relaxation periods are needed. .
Can you handle bad stress? First of all, you should identify your sources of stress and develop strategies for them. You can start by listing the items that trigger your stress.
External stress:
1. Change in your lifestyle: Marriage, pregnancy, house changes, divorce, loss of relatives
2. The environment we live in: Environmental pollution, noise, traffic ,
3. Unexpected events: Rent increase, unexpected guests
4. Family: Family tensions, loved ones’ illness, children’s school failures
5. Work stress: Your workload increase, increasing demands of the manager
6.Social: Deterioration of relations with the opposite sex, arguing with your spouse
Eating healthy, adequate sleep and exercise to overcome external stress will help you relax. Focusing on problem solving, using time well contributes to being planned.
Intrinsic stress: Stress originating mostly from ourselves
1. Uncertainty: Uncertainty about life, internal worries about the future
2. Expectations: Anxiety while implementing your forward plans
3. Social Anxiety: Speaking in public, socializing
We can actually control all these thoughts. However, controlling anxiety, which is a part of internal stress, may not be easy. Strategies must be determined for this. Relaxation techniques , taking a walk, talking to a friend will be helpful. We cannot ignore stress, but we can cope with it. Let’s start by changing our life choices;
