Gastric balloon is an apparatus that is placed endoscopically under sedation anesthesia, filled with air or liquid, remains in the stomach for 6 months and then needs to be removed. Since it occupies the volume in the stomach, it causes the feeling of satiety with less food intake. Gastric balloon is not an alternative treatment method of bariatric surgery. It is a method that provides limited weight loss to reduce the risk of surgery in moderately overweight individuals and in individuals who are super obese and have a high risk of surgery.
