This disease table is in Traditional Chinese Medicine; Featured as “Pian Tou Feng” “Shao Yang Jing Tou Tong”. Syndromes such as stagnation in mental activity, transformation of stagnating Liver energy into fever syndrome, damage to Y over time, or mostly insufficiency of Liver Yin and Kidney Yin, and excessive activity of Liver Fire have been evaluated as the cause of migraine. Extraordinarily powerful Liver Migraine cases, in which the fire rises and damages the seven openings in the head, are very common in the clinic. Migraine type, caused by the invasion of cold and stagnation of blood, is also not few in number.
In Migraine cases where cold invasion is seen, the reason is frequently; Insufficiency of spleen Fire, insufficiency in transport and transformation, accumulation of water and moisture, invasion of sputum, blockage of seven openings by cold, inability to rise up intact Fire.
In Migraine cases caused by stagnation of blood; Depressive syndrome, or blood stasis or prolongation in the disease period, involvement of the canal collaterals in chronic disease, blood stasis in the choroidal vascular network (vascular layer of the eye), and the deceptive occlusion of the seven openings in the head are seen to be effective.
Treatment with Acupuncture
As seen above, we collect and treat migraine patients under three (3) syndromes from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Our prescriptions for Acupuncture points (Ear and Body Acupuncture points) that we use for the treatment of these syndromes are naturally different.
The superficial needling method is used at the points located around the head. A medium-intensity needling is applied to the painful area. Needles are manipulated at certain intervals. Needles are retained at points for 20 – 30 minutes. Electro-acupuncture can also be used. 15 sessions of treatment is usually sufficient.
