APPLICATION POSSIBLE IN MANY AREAS

ESWT is a treatment method applied by focusing high-pressure sound waves on the desired area of the body with a steel-headed applicator. Many health problems can be solved with the treatment that can be applied outside the body, without surgery, without anesthesia and without medication. After the detection and examination of the problem area by the orthopedic specialist with the help of medical imaging devices, ultrasound gel is applied to the marked area and the steel-headed applicator focuses on this area and is treated with sound waves.

Many orthopedic disorders can be solved with ESWT, and it is frequently used in the treatment of heel spurs, tennis and golfer’s elbow, and delayed union fractures. In addition to relieving chronic pain such as Achilles tendon treatment, calcified shoulder pain, hip pain, it has applications in many other orthopedic fields.

SOME ORTHOPEDIC PROBLEMS THAT CAN BE TREATED WITH ESWT

A heel spur is a condition in which the tears caused by the strain of the muscles on the sole of the foot become a bony tissue over time. When the heel spur, which appears as a symptom of pain on the sole of the foot when moving, progresses, the pain can spread to the leg, and it can cause great discomfort especially in people who work all day. Symptoms related to heel spurs that can occur due to obesity, standing for a long time, choosing the wrong shoes, compelling movements in sports and rheumatic diseases can also be minimized with ESWT.

Tennis and golfer’s elbow is a condition that occurs when the elbow weakens in the muscle-tendon attachment region. Since it is associated with frequent use of the wrist or making compelling movements of the wrist, this discomfort is characterized by tenderness and pain in the elbow due to muscle tear and weakening.

Calcified shoulder pain is a condition of unknown origin caused by the deposition of calcium crystals in the tendons around the shoulder joint. Discomfort with an increased likelihood of encountering the effect of recurrent microtraumas and diabetes; It shows symptoms with stiffness in the shoulder, severe pain that can interrupt sleep, and limitation of movement in the shoulder.

NO REST REQUIRED AFTER TREATMENT

ESWT does not require rest after anesthesia, preparation and treatment. The patient can continue his daily life immediately after the treatment session, which lasts between 5-20 minutes. Sessions can be applied with 1 week intervals and the orthopedic specialist who provides the evaluation of the patient’s condition decides how many sessions the treatment will last. It is often preferred considering its advantages, which have no side effects other than short-term redness and swelling, which can rarely occur on the skin, and provide a great improvement in a short time.

ESWT acts quickly in the areas where it is applied, accelerates blood flow, reduces edema, helps repair of bones and tissues, supports collagen formation and relieves muscle spasms.
