Should the child do everything he says?

by clinic

Parents who come home in the evening do whatever they want in the evenings because they miss their children during the day or cannot stand them. Sometimes they try to protect the border, but when the child insists and cries, this time they can’t stand it and do what they want. In fact, this is an even more dangerous situation, where the child learns that he can have wishes when he cries, not when he wants.

The child, who is tried to be looked after by the rules until the evening (at school or at home), differs when he sees the parents, makes many requests, cries when he can’t get it, and the parents do what they want as soon as they cry so that they don’t cry more. When this process continues like this, the child, whose time to start school, sees that his wishes are not crying as he knows, he may experience great disappointment and withdraw. Often terrorizing at home, these kids are very smart at school – good! and families cannot make sense of this situation.

Children who grow up like this may have lifelong difficulties in expressing themselves because they do not know how to do it. Children, whose wishes are fulfilled when they cry at home all the time, start to become even more irritable and make unwarranted demands in the following periods, and families may be completely confused about how to behave in these situations.

In fact, the basic thing to do is never make requests while crying. It should be said, “Okay, I’ll do it, but wait, don’t cry, shut up”, that is, it should never be what he wants when he cries, but it should be done as soon as he is silent, but if it is something that should not be done, it should not be done. And in this way, the child learns the rules of the family, what he can and cannot do. That is also very important. We should always say the reason for our behavior. According to the age level, we should say why we didn’t do what he wanted. It can be said, “I can’t buy this toy because I don’t have enough money” or “You have a similar toy at home right now, we can buy it later”.
