INJURY HAPPENS AT ALL AGES!

Sports injuries constitute the largest part of orthopedic applications. Although it is mostly considered for young patients, middle-aged patients who do sports once a week also experience sports injuries quite often. Sports should always be in our lives.

WHAT CAUSES SPORTS INJURY?

Especially not warming up properly, not doing sports with proper technique, not doing enough training, lack of safety precautions and equipment are the main causes of sports injuries. There are also injuries that we encounter more frequently than in sports. Achilles tendon injuries are common in middle-aged and older people who have the habit of doing sports infrequently, in sports that require explosive power such as tennis.

While groin and calf muscle pulls and cruciate ligament ruptures are common in football, ankle sprains and capsular tears of the finger are more common in basketball. Ligament injuries at the elbow are common in those who play tennis again. On the other hand, swimmers and athletes dealing with bodybuilding may have muscle problems around the shoulder and sudden muscle tears.

The point to be considered is to take precautions compared to the sports part and not to skip warm-up and stretching exercises before and after training. Otherwise, sports that we do for health and pleasure can leave us face to face with injury at any moment.
