THE ROLE OF ACUPUNCTURE IN IVF TREATMENT
STRESS is one of the most important factors affecting the pregnancy of expectant mothers who have undergone IVF treatment.
Fighting stress is the task of the limbic system in the brain. However, excessive stress prevents the limbic system from working. Acupuncture increases the mother’s resistance to stress by regulating the limbic system. By acting on the autonomic nervous system, it helps to regulate hormonal balance and increase egg quality. In many studies, it has been found that the probability of pregnancy and the rate of continuation of this pregnancy are high in mothers who have undergone in vitro fertilization under acupuncture treatment.
STRESS MANAGEMENT WITH ACUPUNCTURE
Stress; It is a state of negativity that affects the whole body and organs, which occurs as a result of the body’s inability to cope with events. The person creates a response to all the warnings coming from the environment with his brain. If it cannot respond to stress, the event becomes chronic after a while. In this case, organ dysfunctions occur. Asthma, urticaria, menstrual irregularity, head-neck-back pain, fibromyolgia, allergic rhinitis, reflux, sleep disorders, panic attacks, obesity, constipation are some of them.
As a result of all these, it is inevitable for a person to feel unhappy. Acupuncture provides the reduction of stress and the restoration of organ functions by increasing the level of endorphins, which we call the happiness hormone, and by stimulating the brain region called the limbic system that fights stress.
ACUPUNCTURE IN THE TREATMENT OF GASTRITS
Gastritis is inflammation of the lining of the stomach lining. Bacterial infection, sweet, bitter, spicy foods, pasty foods, alcohol, smoking, stress can be counted among the causes.
Antibiotic and antacid treatments are applied in chronic gastritis caused by Helicobacter pylori.
With acupuncture, the body’s natural healing mechanism is activated and stress is eliminated. Stomach acidity decreases.
ACUPUNCTURE IN HEADACHE AND MIGRAINE
Migraine is a periodic, throbbing half-headache that can start at any age and recur at short and long intervals. It may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, sensitivity to sound and light. In migraine, the level of serotonin in the blood first increases and then decreases. This change causes enlargement in the head, especially in the temporal arteries. This makes the pain receptors sensitive. These changes in the head and irritation of the cerebral cortex cause nausea, vomiting, and light sensitivity. Acupuncture corrects the decreased serotonin level in migraine. This is the homeostatic balancing effect of acupuncture. The drugs used in migraine have many side effects. However, since there is no other option, the patient is given medication despite these negative effects. This treatment is not a definitive solution.
If the patient is diagnosed with migraine after eliminating all causes of headache, acupuncture can be applied. Although the treatment intervals and the number of sessions vary according to the patient, 10-12 sessions are applied 2-3 days a week. The success rate of acupuncture in migraine is around 80%. It prolongs the interval between attacks, reduces the severity of attacks or completely treats migraine.
ACUPUNCTURE IN WAIST AND NECK HERNIA
With the application of acupuncture, cortisone release in the body is increased.
Cortisone reduces edema in the hernia area. As the pressure decreases, the pain decreases.
With the muscle relaxant effect of acupuncture needles, the spasm in the muscles around the hernia is resolved.
The exercises suggested to the patient help strengthen the muscles.
Strengthening the muscles ensures the improvement of the patient’s posture, thus eliminating the pain.
ACUPUNCTURE IN JOINT DISEASES
In osteoarthritis, joint smoothness is impaired, the bone thickens and bone protrusions called osteophytes occur.
The treatment is aimed at repairing the collagen matrix, which is the support structure of the articular cartilage, and renewing the connective tissue cells.
Hormonal causes can lead to the development of arthritis. Weight, advanced age, thyroid disorders, etc. can also be counted among the causes.
Acupuncture acts by rearranging the impaired hormonal and biochemical balance.
Results are better if supplemented with medical massage and exercise.
