Mechanical low back pain is a low back pain condition that occurs with movements such as sitting, standing, bending. These may develop due to some congenital structural disorders, as well as as a result of accidents or aging. In recent years, we have seen this type of pain in some patients who have undergone a herniated disc surgery performed without complying with scientific criteria.
For these types of patients with mechanical low back pain, some spinal movement disorders and spinal instability, which can be detected through special films taken while standing and performing certain movements; Sometimes, parts taken from the patient’s own bones and metal devices such as screws are used for “fusion stabilization”, that is, waist freezing surgery. Thus, the abnormal mobility of the spine and the movements in the area that causes pain are completely prevented.
However, the fusion of the spinal bones in this way does not allow normal lumbar movements and causes new problems in the upper and lower vertebrae in the long run. Moreover, since such changes created during surgery are irreversible, these techniques should only be applied as a last resort.
