What is trauma?

by clinic

In the daily flow of life, we call traumatic events that occur suddenly, at an unexpected moment, that cause feelings such as fear, horror, helplessness, anxiety, and that turn our lives upside down. In the life span of our lives, from childhood to adulthood, we can see that many of the events that have an impact beyond what we can handle have traumatic consequences.

Traumas, apart from the complex emotions we experience, can also cause depression, anxiety and psychosomatic disorders.

Emotions such as anger, regret, pessimism, guilt, helplessness, and psychological distress experienced after a traumatic event are normal reactions to an abnormal event. However; Symptoms such as “sleeping and eating disorder, inability to focus on daily routines, difficulty in making decisions, getting angry easily, sudden crying spells, emotional numbness, recurring memories or nightmares about the event, difficulty in remembering traumatic events, inability to confront traumatic issues” are more than a month old. If we have been feeling for a long time and think that we cannot live our lives as before, we should consider getting professional help.
