Which exercise

by clinic

It is one of the most frequently asked questions to us, what exercise should I do so that my pain will go away, I will regain my health, or what exercise should I do so that I do not have any health problems.

In one of the last congresses on low back pain held in the USA, this issue was discussed at length. The men were not lazy, they found subjects for themselves, and they measured them in detail by having them do various exercises.

The first conclusion is that there is no exercise to relieve back pain, neither swimming nor pilates nor yoga cures diseases that cause pain in the back and neck. To treat these pains, either surgical treatment or one of the physical therapy methods is required. Sports such as swimming, pilates and yoga are helpful to maintain the condition after recovery and not to get sick again, but they do not cure it.

Walking in the sea or pool has been found to be the most effective exercise method for those who have low back and neck problems. In other words, you will enter the water up to chest level, you will walk as if you are walking on a straight road, if you cannot walk straight, do not walk where you are, even if it is less effective. It is recommended to do 15-20 minutes two or three days a week. Swimming is also effective, but in measurements well below walking on water.

Another effective exercise is straight walking. But you will walk briskly, not like a bazaar. Walking 4-5 kilometers every day is highly recommended for those with back and neck problems. Surprising results are seen in running exercise. On the contrary, running has a worse effect on those who suffer from low back pain and worsens their condition. The same situation is seen in sports such as basketball and volleyball due to the negative effect of the bouncing effect on the waist and neck.

Another negative effect is seen in going up and down stairs, so don’t use an elevator, it is not correct to say go up and down the stairs for sports.

The negative effect of playing tennis and football after warming up is not as much as it is thought. But do not play until you are sure that you are still healed. Cycling is not harmful if you don’t get a cold on your back, it even has benefits.

As a result, if you have a low back problem, first try to walk in water, if you cannot, walk briskly on the flat road. You can do sports such as Pilates, yoga, swimming, cycling, but avoid running, climbing stairs and especially jumping sports.
