White Coat Excitement at DEU

The “White Coat Ceremony” excitement was experienced at Dokuz Eylul University (DEU) Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, which is the first and only one in Izmir. Speaking at the ceremony where the opening of the new classrooms, laboratories and operating room center added to the faculty were held, DEU Rector Prof. Dr. Nükhet Hotar said, “The success of our children, who are on their way to becoming physicians, gives us strength and morale as a source of pride. I trust them and wish them success in their career journeys.”

“White Coat Ceremony” was held at Dokuz Eylul University (DEU) Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. To the ceremony at DEU Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, which was established in Kiraz as İzmir’s first and only veterinary faculty; DEU Rector Prof. Dr. Nükhet Hotar, Kiraz District Governor Onur Titiz, Kiraz Mayor Saliha Özçınar Kutlu, DEU Vice Rectors, deans, academics and students attended. Also at the ceremony, the opening of the new classroom, laboratories and operating room center, which was brought to DEU Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, was held.

“OUR SUCCESS IS OUR PRIDE”

In his speech at the ceremony, Dokuz Eylul University Rector Prof. Dr. Nükhet Hotar said, “Our Veterinary Faculty, which has a total of 197 students, including 80 students enrolled this year, successfully continues its teaching and research activities to train competent veterinarians of the future. With the importance we give to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, as in our other academic units, our Faculty continues to develop day by day. The success of our children, who are on the way to becoming doctors, gives us strength and morale as a source of pride. I trust them and wish them success in their career journeys.”

NEW INVESTMENTS OPENED

Stating that it is a privilege to receive veterinary education at DEU, Rector Hotar noted that as Dokuz Eylül University, they attach importance to the right to life of animals and the healthy development of the livestock sector by being supported in line with scientific studies. Rector Hotar said, “As a result of this thought and our efforts, we established İzmir’s first Veterinary Faculty in Kiraz district and started our teaching and research activities as of 2019. We have provided our faculty, which has an important role in the development of Cherry and the region, our classrooms, laboratories and operating room center, which were completed today, and made it available to our students and academics. I wish you good luck. We are close to the end of our work with Kiraz Municipality on a shelter that will set an example for stray animals. I hope we will open this center soon,” he said.

“OUR EFFORTS ARE FOR OUR STUDENTS”

Rector Hotar, who stated that DEU Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has an understanding of education at international standards and focuses on the areas needed by the region, said, “We focus our efforts on ensuring that our students continue their education and training life as comfortably as possible while they grow up as competent individuals in their fields. We will continue in this way from now on. In the coming period, we are planning new projects that will increase the strength of our faculty. Thus, we aim to maintain and develop a sustainable and high-quality teaching environment at high standards.”

IN TOP 10

DEU Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Zafer Bulut, in his speech at the ceremony, emphasized that DEU Veterinary Faculty, which has not yet graduated its first graduates, is among the top 10 veterinary faculties in Turkey. Bulut said, “The meaning of the white coat is purity, honesty and perfection. Not only in the physical sense; In the spiritual sense, these aprons should be carried with honesty and sincerity with a sense of responsibility towards the patient and the profession.

After the ceremony program, DEU Rector Prof. Dr. Nükhet Hotar toured the classrooms, laboratories and operating room centers with the students. Rector Hotar, who chatted with the students and took pictures, then came together with the families of Kiraz in the program called “We Cross the Distances for Happy Parents, Happy Children”, one of DEU’s social responsibility projects.
