What would you say when you see this picture? Obviously, it’s a picture of the “widow maker” character, but it’s a very different subject we’re talking about; heart attack.
Severe and widespread infarction, which develops as a result of complete occlusion of the most important left descending branch of the heart vessels, costs the person’s life. That’s why it’s called widower’s disease. The coronary artery (LAD) indicated by the white arrow below is completely occluded. In the second picture, the opening of the vessel with angiography is seen.
The blockage of this vessel causes infarction, that is, death of the heart muscle. It is very difficult for a patient to survive such a large and widespread infarction.
Despite all the developments in recent years, cardiovascular diseases still continue to be the most deadly disease. Despite balloons, stents, bypass surgeries, blood thinners and cholesterol-lowering drugs, we still have not achieved very important results.
