What is diabetes?
• The hormone insulin secreted from the pancreas lowers blood sugar, allowing your body to use the energy in the foods you eat as needed.
• If there is a problem in the secretion or functioning of insulin, sugar begins to accumulate in the blood instead of entering the cells.
•Diabetes is a lifelong disease.
