Working with the Mindlab Institute, Dr. Lewis Hodgson and his team decided to conduct a search for a song that minimizes anxiety. In the study, participants were asked to connect sensors and solve difficult puzzles. Here the participants had to solve the puzzles as quickly as possible. The participants, who tried to solve these puzzles under stress, were listened to various songs and thus their physiological processes such as heart rate, brain movements, and breathing were measured. As a result of the research, the team reached 6 songs that helped reduce the anxiety rates between the songs played and the anxiety rates.
These Songs:
All Saints – Puree Shores
Mozart – Canzonetta Sullaria
Coldplay – Strawberry Swing
Enya-Watermark
DJ Shah – Mellomaniac
Marconi Union – Weightless
Researchers announced the piece called Weigthless as the most effective song. It was concluded that the song, which means “weightless” in Turkish, reduces anxiety by 65%. Members of the Marconi Union group also stated that the song was made for this purpose and was revealed with experts.
Research like this and some information can be misinterpreted and is anxiety a bad feeling that needs to be eliminated or reduced? The question may come. In fact, anxiety (anxiety) is a natural reaction we give to situations that we interpret as bad and harmful. Making sense of anxiety as something bad that needs to be reduced further increases our anxiety. The sample song list and research given above actually reduce cortisol, which is the stress hormone, to less numbers, thus ensuring more peace and calm. Of course, it is useful to be able to manage anxiety and fear and to be calm and peaceful. Therefore, this research has made a positive contribution in this sense. However, it is not correct to perceive anxiety as negative here. Anxiety is an emotion that everyone experiences. Contrary to popular belief, anxiety is not only seen in individuals with a psychological disorder. For example, when you are going to make an important presentation, you may experience anxiety before or after the presentation, or anxiety before an event that you call important to you naturally manifests itself. So when does anxiety go from being a natural emotion to a point where you need professional help? We can briefly explain anxiety as living constantly and excessively, the predominance of anxiety in the flow of life and its effect on your daily life. It would not be correct and unethical to say something definite as a diagnosis and to say ‘if you have the following conditions, you have an anxiety disorder’ without expert evaluation. The best thing to do is to consult an expert. However, in individuals with anxiety disorders, the part of getting professional support can be delayed quite a bit. Although it is one of the most common mental disorders, it also carries the fewest treatment applications. It is generally seen twice more in women than men and it starts at an early age and can affect individuals academically, socially and professionally. If you are experiencing such a situation, it will be the best decision you can make for yourself to get help from a professional instead of making a diagnosis or acting with false information.
