Play therapy and functionality

by clinic

Play therapy is the methods and techniques that children try to overcome by re-enacting the emotions and difficulties they experience in the playroom, helping them to regulate their behaviors, clarify their self-perceptions and establish healthy relationships.

While the difficulties experienced in adult therapy are expressed by talking, children also express their feelings and problems by playing.

Since play is a child’s natural means of expressing himself, the child has the opportunity to express his distressing emotions such as tension, aggression, fear, confidence, insecurity, frustration, confusion and confusion through play.

The play therapist, on the other hand, helps the child to understand his/her problems, explore his/her distressing emotions and attitudes, and find solutions by confronting the child with them.

The aim of play therapy is to support children to develop emotional and social functionality that will coincide with their developmental period.

Play therapy is curative because the child has the opportunity to re-enact their past experiences and emotions through play.

During the therapy period, the child gets rid of his/her inhibitions and continues his/her developmental period from where he/she left off.
