Venous insufficiency occurs as a result of disruption of normal blood flow in the veins. The main problem is the valves that prevent the backflow of blood. Any problem in these valves causes blood to flow backwards, causing pressure increase and enlargement in the veins, the walls of which are thin and elastic compared to the arteries. As this enlargement becomes continuous, the elastic property of the walls of these enlarged vessels decreases, and vein disease with different stages, which we now call varicose, occurs.
In cases where varicose veins are thought by physical examination, we can make a definitive diagnosis and staging as a result of the evaluation made with Color Doppler Ultrasound.
Although the treatment options of varicose veins in different stages are different, our patients can leave this health problem behind with early diagnosis and intervention with satisfactory results.
