1) What is “intuitive eating” that has become popular lately? Is it possible to lose weight by eating intuitively?

The definition of intuitive eating was defined as a non-dietary approach in 1995 by Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch, two of whom are clinical dietitians.

Individuals who do not exhibit intuitive eating behavior can end their eating behavior when they reach emotional saturation. Considering the intuitive eating behavior as an innate awareness, it is stated that the individual acts with the principle of “eat when you are hungry and stop eating when you are full”.

When you set a weight goal for yourself and think that you have to lose weight, it is not possible to practice intuitive eating. Being more flexible and not feeling guilty when you go out to a nice meal with your loved ones and consume calorie foods will make you feel better. Thus, you begin to establish a physical, not psychological, connection between you and food. You can get rid of the obsession of losing weight and you can easily start losing weight without noticing your eating disorders.

Don’t associate food with your emotions. Chocolate is happy, broccoli is not punishing. It is your experiences that create this bond, and you need to let go of these emotional bonds for intuitive nourishment.

When eating, focus only on the food. Dealing with distractions prevents you from enjoying your meal.

You must learn to respect and love your body. Especially the fit bodies you see on social media can make you feel bad. But remember that not everyone is the same. You don’t need to be in certain patterns to love your body.

Lead an active life and get exercise habits. But don’t be fooled into thinking that I have to burn calories while doing this. Focus on how the exercise makes you feel and realize that your body is more energetic.

Recognize that you don’t need to eat perfectly to be healthy and maintain your ideal weight. If you want a food that appeals to your taste, eat it. A single meal will neither bring you the health you want nor leave you vulnerable to diseases.

Find a way to deal with your emotional eating habit. If you can get rid of this habit, feelings such as stress, anxiety, sadness, and anger will not lead you to food and you will not find yourself in guilt for short-term relief.

If you meet these conditions, intuitive eating will help you lose weight.
