Current treatment options in LDD are conservative or surgical treatment. However, these two treatments are far from an etiological approach and do not treat degenerated disc by providing disc regeneration. Therefore, biological treatment options are more reasonable among treatment options in LDD, and these treatment options that biologically repair LDD are divided into 3 categories.
1) Biomolecular therapy
2) Stem cell therapy
3) Complete regeneration of the intervertebral disc with tissue engineering
