Do something today that your future self will thank you for.

Days before we enter the New Year, we can’t take our eyes off the sparkle of the streets and the splendor of the ornate pine trees. We are getting ready to welcome the last month of the year and the exciting and stressful periods in which we tend to make new beginnings. Colorful chocolates in different tastes, macarons, cakes and more attract our attention in the stores. Sometimes these products, which we voluntarily buy and consume with pleasure, sometimes cause us to consume them simply because we do not enjoy them. There is a complex but powerful link between nutrition and our mood. According to researches, the foods consumed in our body have an impact on many mental and cognitive brain functions as well as metabolic requirements. Our changing moods often heavily influence our diet. In individuals whose mood changes suddenly and frequently; stress, sadness, anxiety, etc. In some cases, it has been observed that they experience high-calorie foods that are easy to consume or experience loss of appetite.
The emotional state that occurs in the person plays an important role in choosing the foods that he will consume. It is known that not consuming various nutrients causes weakening in cognitive functions, aggression and even depressive moods. We should never forget that physical and mental health progress together. As in the Ying-Yang principle, no matter how unrelated some situations may seem, all the elements in the universe are in a cycle that complements each other. Each occurrence cycles through a new interaction, explaining this to us. Our diet; Being healthy enables us to be more active individuals in social areas as well as increasing our quality of life. Emotional eating/hunger may be the reason for our mood swings and especially when we are in a depressed mood, more often than usual or overeating. In this situation, which usually occurs, people’s interest is characterized as a form of food intake aimed at completing emotional hunger rather than physical hunger. The food consumed is a goal in standard life; In this case, the food consumed turns into a vehicle.
True feelings cannot be produced, they cannot be eliminated. We can only suppress them, deceive ourselves and deceive our bodies. The body clings to the facts

Bilateral disagreements or separations, failures, deceptions, unemployment, losses and grieving processes are common in these situations. The individual, who is faced with the situation, spends all his solutions by focusing on food and drinks, with the thought of a lack of sense of belonging or a vacuum. In order to prevent this situation, adding seasonal fruit/vegetable choices to your shopping lists and preparing healthy snacks unlike ready-made foods will change your focus and satisfy your self-discipline.
Of course, apart from these, one of the factors that affect our diet and changes in our mood is the seasons. Due to the fact that we receive less sunlight in winter than in summer and spring, the level of melatonin hormone increases. It also decreases our serotonin level. Low levels of the hormone serotonin can cause individuals to become demoralized and predisposed to depressive moods. Changes in mood that occur during seasonal changes affect our nutrition.
The only constant is change itself. Despite our differences and changes, we must not forget to embrace life with hope, to love us in the mirror as always, and to hug ourselves with compassion.
