Today we talked about procrastination. For content ⬇️
1. Procrastination is not laziness.
2. Procrastination is not a motivational problem or a time-management error, it is usually related to emotion regulation.
3. By procrastinating, we experience short-term happiness, but in the long run it causes more distress for us.
4. The unattractiveness of the work to be done may not be the source of procrastination, our lack of self-confidence in that work and our thinking that we will not do a good job may be one of the reasons for procrastination.
What we can do:
1. Forgiving ourselves for our past procrastination.
2. Understanding what is going on in our body, thoughts and emotions during procrastination. To understand our needs.
3. Setting realistic goals. Progress step by step.
4. Imagining the future self.
5. Recognizing that getting better at not procrastinating will take time.
Tiny tips:
1. Assuming that you will do the job for a short time and start the job. (I will only exercise for five minutes.)
2. Restricting social media. (Turning off the phone, setting a screen limit, deleting some applications, etc.)
3. Planning the things you will do, making a list, going step by step.
4. Trying productive working techniques, finding what works best for ourselves. (like the Pomodoro technique) 5.
Giving small rewards.
