Psychological First Aid to Disaster Victims from Kızılay

“CHILD FRIENDLY AREAS” TO BE ESTABLISHED IN DISASTER AREAS

After the Kahramanmaraş earthquake, the Red Crescent increases its psychological first aid activities for disaster victims, as well as nutritional and basic needs support. With the support of volunteer psychologists, Kızılay established “child-friendly areas” in the disaster area and aims to support the recovery of the traumas caused by the disaster.

Red Crescent, which tries to support disaster victims in other areas besides nutritional support, which is its main service area, increases the psychological first aid service it has started to provide for disaster victims, especially children. Red Crescent tries to reduce the effects of disaster trauma in the earthquake area with teams of psychologists, psychological counseling and guidance specialists, and social service specialists, who are among its nearly 5 thousand volunteers working in the field. Kızılaycılar performs play therapy with children in mobile child-friendly areas, and works against mental traumas with activities organized during the day.
