
Gaziemir Municipality treated and cared for 5,820 animals in 2022. The municipality, which adopted 61 animals and gave them a new home, used 8 thousand 25 kilograms of food to feed their dear friends.
Gaziemir Municipality, within the scope of veterinary services, carries out all kinds of rehabilitation of stray animals such as health and care. The municipality, which provides services that meet all the needs of stray animals such as sterilization, vaccination against epidemics, adoption, identification and registration, housing and treatment, can also perform operations on animals in the clinic, which is equipped with new devices. The municipal personnel, who carry out all the care and health screening of the animals living on the street, register and identify the animals and return them to the area where they were taken as per the law. Those who are unable to live on the streets are placed in shelters and nursing homes, ensuring that they live in a safe environment.
Serving 5,820 animals
The Veterinary Affairs Directorate of the municipality, which deals with all the health problems of animals living on the street, also provides all treatment and care for animals injured in vehicle crashes and natural events. The veterinarian and support personnel, who make the first aid to the injured animals at the scene, transport the injured animal to the polyclinic with a more specially equipped vehicle and treat it here. Veterinarians, who perform surgery when necessary, keep the injured animals under control at the Temporary Animal Care House of the municipality after the surgical intervention and implement a treatment program.
As part of Gaziemir Municipality’s veterinary services, 5,820 animals were treated and cared for, including 773 dogs and 3,620 cats. Within the scope of the studies, a total of 1,427 sterilization procedures were performed, including 253 dogs and 1,174 cats. The municipality also adopts the animals it has rehabilitated and provides them with a warm home. In this context, 61 animals were provided with a new home.
The food of dear friends is from the municipality
In order for the dear friends not to go hungry, the teams affiliated to the Veterinary Affairs Directorate of the municipality regularly leave food for stray animals at the food centers all over the district. In the automatic water foci, which the teams of the Parks and Gardens Directorate put in places where stray animals can easily access, especially in parks and green areas, dear friends can reach water. The municipality fed the stray animals with a total of 8 thousand 25 kilograms of food, 4 thousand 250 kilograms of dog food and 3 thousand 775 kilograms of cat food.
