Consume plenty of tomatoes and greens: The lycopene in tomatoes strengthens the skin, making it more resistant to sunlight. In particular, tomatoes cooked in oil contain plenty of lycopene (a powerful antioxidant) and are more easily absorbed by the body when consumed with oil. Green leafy vegetables, which contain powerful antioxidants, vitamins C and E, form a strong barrier against sun damage. Don’t forget omega-3 fatty acids: A diet strong in omega-3 fatty acids and regular omega-3 supplements protect the skin from sunburn and blemishes.
WHAT TO DO TO BENEFIT FROM THE SUN?
Only 20 minutes of sunbathing is enough to enjoy the health benefits of the sun. If you are fair-skinned, sunbathe for five to ten minutes for the first one or two days, increase the time when your skin color gets a little intense.
