EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is a school of psychotherapy, is based on Adaptive Information Processing Theory, which argues that the cause of the difficulties and discomfort experienced by the person today is the storage of traumatic memories and memory networks in the mind with false beliefs and maladaptive behaviors, in which they experience challenging situations and experiences that exceed their coping capacity. Accordingly, the psychological difficulties we experience today may actually be our survival responses to a challenging or traumatic situation we experienced in the past, or they may contain false beliefs and behaviors that are not functional for the present. With EMDR Therapy, it is a therapy method that allows us to relax by getting out of the effect of that experience by re-interpreting the disturbing events, experiences or memories that we have not been able to get rid of today, regardless of the effect of trauma and our past experience.
