What is Vaginismus?
Vaginismus is one of the most common sexual dysfunctions in our country.
Vaginismus is one of the sexual dysfunctions that occur as a result of sudden and involuntary contractions in the muscles surrounding the entrance of the vagina, and these contractions prevent sexual intercourse from taking place.
Vaginismus arises from the woman’s unconscious fears and false sexual information. The contractions that occur during sexual intercourse are caused by the body’s “protection mechanism”.
What do vaginismus patients experience during sexual intercourse?
While everything is going well in couples who love each other very much and are very happy, and perhaps have no problems in their relationships other than sexuality, and beautiful and pleasant lovemaking is experienced, a situation “like a panic attack” is experienced in the woman during the reunification phase of the relationship.
The woman suddenly contracts herself, closes her legs, pushes her partner and pulls herself backwards. Wetting in the vagina during the lovemaking phase decreases and turns into dryness.
This panic state that occurs in vaginismus is due to unconscious false information, prejudices and fears.
In this panic attack-like behavior, the woman’s heartbeat accelerates, she is out of breath, after fear and excitement she squeezes herself as much as she can, and in this case, it is not possible for the penis to enter the vagina. Sometimes this situation can be accompanied by pain, sometimes there is only fear.
Then the woman who does not want the continuation of the relationship closes her leg tightly and ends the sexual intercourse by pushing her husband.
Do not delay your vaginismus treatment. If you have this disorder, you should seek professional support.
