Dysmenorrhea is a common problem observed in 50 percent of women during menstrual periods. It can be evaluated under two main clusters. Primary dysmenorrhea, without any related cause; Secondary dysmenorrhea occurs due to a pelvic disorder (such as a chocolate cyst). Menstrual pain is mostly in the groin, and it is referred to as inguinal pain before, during and after menstruation, as of the time when the pain occurs. Some herbal teas can be useful in relieving common complaints in this period.
Plants with antispasmodic effect can be used to alleviate the contraction/spasm complaints that occur in individuals during this period. For this purpose, yarrow, chamomile and rosebud will help relieve the spasm in the uterus, as well as reduce the tension that occurs in women during the menstrual cycle with their mild sedative properties, and will help the person relax.
Prostaglandin suppressors such as turmeric and willow bark can be beneficial in removing the edema that occurs in the body during the menstrual period and relieving pain.
Red clover, which has herbal estrogen properties, binds to estrogenic receptors in the body and partially inhibits the binding of the estrogen hormone secreted during the menstrual period. Herbal artifacts such as dandelion, which support liver functions, are used to ensure that the exposed estrogen is rapidly broken down in the liver.
On the other hand, shepherd’s bag is useful in order to reduce menstrual bleeding and keep it under control.
SUGGESTIONS/WARNINGS:
Instead of preparing these herbs separately, the tea mixture prepared for these special days for women is in the middle of herbal teas in the markets. Drinking this tea 4 times a day during the menstrual cycle can be effective. If 3-4 consecutive periods are used for a week, it should be stronger.
