Water is the most precious element for human life after oxygen and is an indispensable module of our nutrition. Although humans can survive for weeks without food, they can survive only a few days in a state of thirst. Although the water content of the human body varies between 42 and 75% according to age and gender, an average of 59% of the adult human body is water. Water plays an extremely valuable role in the functioning of body functions, in maintaining the balance of metabolism and in the realization of many biochemical reactions in the body.
Water;
- Digestion, absorption and transport of nutrients to cells,
- Systematic functioning of cells, tissues, organs and systems,
- Transport and removal of wasteful elements resulting from metabolism,
- It helps the digestive system to work properly,
- to control body temperature,
- to provide lubricity of joints,
- to realize various biochemical events.
Sufficient water intake is very valuable for growth and continuation of bodily functions. The studies carried out indicate that daily water consumption in appropriate measures;
- colds,
- constipation,
- urinary tract infections,
- protection of skin health,
- detoxification of the organism,
- helps in the prevention of cellulite formation because it helps to lose weight in weight control programs and plays a role in regulating the moisture and elasticity of the skin.
When we are cold on cold days or in extreme heat, such as on very hot and humid days of summer, the body’s need for water to maintain its normal temperature increases. In hot, humid weather, the body sweats and increases fluid loss. Therefore, care should be taken to increase fluid consumption on days when the temperature rises.
- The first thing to do when you get up in the morning should be to drink 1 glass of water at the beginning,
- After each toilet, 1 glass of water should be drunk to replace the lost fluid,
- While training and especially when working in hot weather, water consumption should be increased
- Water consumption should be increased especially in air and sea travels,
- Water should always be kept in a visible place, care should be taken to consume water without waiting for the feeling of thirst.
How much water should you drink each day?
As a general rule, it is recommended to consume 8-10 glasses (2.5 liters) of water in order to eliminate the wasteful matters in the body and to maintain the body fluid balance. In order to strengthen the memory and think quickly, especially natural mineral waters with high pH should be preferred.
Water, which makes up 70-75 percent of the brain, is also necessary for memory. Water accelerates brain functions as a whole. The brain works slower when there is no water. The dehydrated brain’s capacity to hold information and form memory is adversely affected, which in turn reflects negatively on brain functions and memory. Water containing calcium and magnesium is considered as “hard water”. Most of us do not care enough about the benefits of calcium and magnesium for our body. 70 percent of the daily recommended calcium requirement is provided by milk and dairy products, 16 percent by dried fruits and vegetables, and 6-7 percent by natural mineral waters. However, it is difficult to determine an exact number of calcium intake with water, because there is also water containing 400 mg of calcium per liter, as well as water containing only a few mg of calcium per liter. For this reason, the labels on the water bottles should be read carefully.
Ideal is to drink natural mineral water rich in calcium and high pH…
