ALKALINE DIET
ALKALINE NUTRITION: HEALTH WITH VEGETABLES
The main rule of healthy nutrition and weight loss is to maintain the acid-alkaline balance in the body. The alkaline diet is a balancing diet based on adding alkaline foods to the acidifying foods taken daily. The main goal of the alkaline diet is to get enough of the minerals necessary for the body, such as calcium, magnesium, zinc and copper, through vegetables and fruits. It is poor in minerals, fiber and, on the contrary, rich in simple sugars, saturated fat, sodium and chlorine. Such a diet leads to a picture of metabolic acidosis. In modern diets, with aging, it becomes difficult for the kidney to maintain acid-base balance, and the fight against acidosis becomes even more difficult. Diets with high acid load, low carbohydrate and high protein content decrease urinary magnesium and citrate excretion, while increasing calcium, phosphate and uric acid excretion. This increases the risk of stone formation in the kidneys. Disruption of the acid-base balance in the body leads to diseases.
Effect of alkaline diet on muscles?
Eating vegetables and fruits rich in potassium helps to protect muscle mass by reducing our acid load. Increasing acid load in our body results in weakening of skeletal muscles. Muscle wasting is a general problem in diabetes, kidney failure and chronic lung diseases.
Alkaline diet and growth hormone?
Studies have shown that growth hormone is secreted when an alkaline diet is applied. Growth hormone not only contributes to the muscle and bone development of children, but also is an anti-aging hormone that slows down the aging process in adults. Increasing growth hormone with alkaline diet supports cardiovascular health and strengthens memory.
Magnesium taken sufficiently with alkaline diet enables Vitamin D to become active. This strengthens bones and teeth.
Some drugs used in cancer treatment are more effective in alkaline environment, alkaline diet supports the treatment in this respect.
The alkalinity of the tissues facilitates the elimination of toxins through the kidneys. Therefore, vegetables and food supplements that provide an alkaline environment are used in metabolic detoxification diets.
Foods such as green fresh and raw vegetables, peas, beans, pure spices, raw nuts and raw seeds support the formation of an alkaline environment.
Foods that support the formation of an undesirable acidic environment can be summarized as meat, fish, poultry, eggs, cereals and pulses.
For example, although lemon is a very acidic fruit, its production as a result of digestion supports the creation of an alkaline environment for the body.
Similarly, although almost all meat products are alkaline before digestion, acidic residues that emerge at the end of digestion will appear in the acidic foods section of the tables below, as they support the formation of an acidic environment in the body.
If you eat proteins and carbohydrates at the same meal, you cannot digest them easily. When carbonated sodas are taken into the body, calcium is released from the bones to maintain the pH balance, which means weakening of the bones. If you consume alkaline water, you will protect your bone and dental health. If you consume acid-producing foods in the body for a long time, your alkaline stores will decrease and acidosis may occur.
Acidity causes obesity, the simplest treatment is plenty of fluid and alkaline diet. Obesity is a defense mechanism developed by the body to prevent acids from damaging organs.
Toxins are one of the causes of aging. Toxins that cause damage to cells increase the lines on our face. Antioxidants in vegetables and fruits protect the body against aging by removing these toxins from the cells.
Alkaline (Detox) diet tips:
1. Remove red meat, fats, processed foods, sugar, instant juice, coffee, black tea sweeteners from your diet.
2.Fill your plate with more vegetables. Vegetables are alkaline and help you balance your body pH. You can eat vegetables before and during each meal. This makes it easier for you to neutralize acidic foods. Eating grapefruit 15 minutes before breakfast protects you from the acid effect of proteins and carbohydrates.
3.Lemon has an acidic taste, but creates an alkaline environment in the body, squeezing lemon into your salad is beneficial. Choose soy milk instead of cow’s milk.
4.Your diet should contain healthy fats. Avakodo, raw nuts, raw seeds are heart-friendly omega-3 sources. If you cannot consume enough of these, you can use omega-3 supplements.
5.Drink 2 liters of alkaline water a day.
