Nutrition is a complex issue that has been on everyone’s agenda since the existence of human beings and includes a wide variety of variables. Well, what is the truth of this ‘nutrition by blood pool’? Indeed, does it have scientific validity? If yes, which blood set, what should one pay attention to? Is there a diet called “Blood Based Nutrition”?

Contrary to what is known, there is no scientific equivalent of nutrition in the literature compared to blood set! This situation can be explained by various reasons.

The most precious of these is the fact that nutrition is personal! Humans have four different blood sets biologically; A, B, AB and 0 blood clusters. These clusters are determined by the presence of antigens in our blood. Assuming that nutrition is also shaped according to these blood sets, we have been talking about only 4 types of nutrition for years, just as we would recommend one-to-one diets to people in the blood set. However, nutrition is unique to the individual, just like our fingerprints. Because each individual’s metabolism, existing diseases, medical history, connection with food, life standards and food preferences differ. Just as people in the blood set have different metabolic problems or have different food preferences, we cannot impose a uniform diet just because they have that antigen in their blood.

When it comes to nutrition and diet, the blood costs of the clients are taken into account, not the blood sets. For example, the costs of fasting blood sugar, triglycerides, HDL and LDL cholesterol, hormones such as urea and creatinine, ALT, AST, TSH, various vitamins and minerals are the laboratory findings we consider when planning the diet of the clients. In addition to these, many factors such as the person’s life style, previous or chronic diseases, food allergies and intolerances, physical activity level, age, gender, dietary pattern and preferences are taken into consideration. For this reason, it is not scientifically possible to count blood clusters in the middle of these factors when creating a healthy diet plan for individuals.

When it comes to weight control, caloric stability should be based on. If the person creates a calorie deficit for a while, that is, if the calories they consume are more than the calories they consume, physiological weight loss will occur. In the opposite case, we can talk about weight gain. It would be meaningless to talk about the role of antigens in the blood in this stability, where sports, nutrition and psychology affect multidisciplinary.
